For starters, get the lighting right. No kitchen design however big or small can be successful without the right level of light. You need natural light from windows, surrounding rooms and even skylights during the day and artificial light from bulbs, spotlights and LEDs when it gets dark. Light makes small spaces seem a lot bigger, but what it can do for already large spaces is add warmth and make the room a pleasant environment to inhabit 24 hours a day.
If your house is accommodating a large family then the floors of your country kitchen will need serious consideration. You’ll need something that is not only easy to clean, but also maintains the rustic charm that you’re trying to create. A nice choice if carefully chosen, is laminate flooring. You can find some really rich tones that fill not only be easy to keep neat and tidy, but also add to the impact of your design.
The things you put into you kitchen when complete will really put the exclamation mark on your design. For a country kitchen, go for things like fresh flowers in classy vases and have spice racks and some utensils on show. This will give the space a really authentic look and feel.
